Chuckwagon Breakfast - 9am

Saddle up and head down to meet us at the County Courthouse - we'll be around the chuckwagon enjoying cowboy coffee and breakfast tacos served by the Fort Davis FFA. 9am

(no horse required!)

Horse Parade & Historical Tour - 10am

Take a ride down the original main street of town, which is also the old Overland Trail! We make a few stops at points of interest as our tour guide (Rick Draheim of the Overland Trail Museum) shares some history on our route to the Fort Davis National Historic Site and through the Fort grounds!

The official tour leaves at 10am from the West side of the courthouse on Front Street heading North.

Horses, wagons/buggies, bicycles, pedestrians, and dogs on leashes are all welcome! No motors please.

If joining on foot, you may wish to stop when we reach the Overland Trail Museum (approx. 1 mile). Our full route is about 2 miles to the turnaround on the Fort grounds, then 2 miles back to the courthouse.

(see map below)

If you wish to end at the Fort and visit the grounds there, please check in at the visitor center before exploring away from our parade route.

Once our official tour ends, you are also welcome to explore more of town, or continue on the Overland Trail route in the Southwest direction. Some of us will be returning that way to visit the Moreland Wagon Barn, or we may go as far as the County Park.

Trailer Parking & Where To Stay

Trailer parking and unloading options are numerous around the blocks near the courthouse. The Jeff Davis County Park is a little over 1 mile from the Courthouse, and also has ample parking and space to set up. There are multiple RV parks, as well as Prude Ranch and the Davis Mountains State Park where you can stay overnight with your horses. Find more location and contact information below (related to the map provided here), or from our Chamber of Commerce's beautiful website!
